Waterlase® YSGG HydroKinetic Dental Laser
Waterlase(R) YSGG HydroKinetic Dental Laser The HydroKinetic process is the removal of tissues with YSGG laser-energized water droplets. HydroKinetic energy is produced by combining a spray of atomized water with laser energy. The resulting HydroKinetic energy gently and precisely removes a wide range of human tissue including tooth enamel (the hardest substance in the body), and soft tissue (gum tissue) with no heat and no pain in most cases.

Crowns/Bridges
Crowns cover the whole tooth to protect and strengthen broken teeth or teeth that have been weakened by large fillings. These teeth can be restored back to their original shape or altered to improve their appearance. Bridges are used to replace missing teeth in order to maintain facial appearance and to improve and maintain a stable bite. Crowns and bridges can be made of gold alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials. These are permanently bonded to the teeth.

Implants
Missing teeth can be replaced with dental implants.. Dental implants are titanium posts that are placed into the jaw bone by either an oral surgeon or a periodontist. During the next three to six months, the implant will bond with the jawbone. Once the implant has fused with the jawbone, a crown can be connected to it to replace the missing tooth. Multiple implants can be used to replace many teeth.

Root Canal Therapy
Teeth that have been injured due to trauma, deep decay, or cracks can be saved by root canal therapy. These problems lead to bacterial infection of the pulp which contains the nerves, blood vessels, and other tissues inside the tooth. The byproducts of the infection can lead to an abscess causing swelling and pain. Treatment involves removal of the infected pulp and the placement of a filling material to seal the pulp space.

White Fillings
White or composite fillings can be used instead of silver (amalgam) fillings to match the color of your teeth. Besides the cosmetic advantages, white fillings are bonded to your teeth which allows for more conservative removal of cavities.

Porcelain crowns and veneers
Stained, fractured, and misaligned teeth can be restored with porcelain crowns or veneers to look natural, whiter, and straighter. The desired color and shape is discussed ahead of time between the patient, dentist and sometimes the lab technician. The teeth are then prepared and custom tempories are placed. The custom lab made porcelain crowns or veneers are permanently bonded at a second appointment. This is great way to achieve instant whiter and straighter looking teeth.
Direct bonded veneers
Stained, fractured, and misaligned teeth can also be restored with direct bonded veneers to look natural, whiter, and straighter. The desired color and shape is discussed ahead of time between the patient and dentist. The teeth are prepared and bonded in a single appointment.
Teeth Whitening (Bleaching)
Teeth that are stained or look darker due to drinks, food and aging can be made whiter and brighter with teeth whitening. Teeth whitening is a very simple and great way to improve your smile.

Gum Disease
Gum disease is the most prevalent disease to affect the oral cavity. It has been determined that gum disease affects 90% of all adult patients in the United States. There are two basic disease components of gum disease, gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is the inflammation of the gingival tissues ("gums"). Periodontitis is the inflammation of the periodontal tissues (supporting bone and tissues around tooth roots). The best treatment for gum disease is prevention through good oral hygiene combined with professional dental cleanings. If disease has progressed, treatments can include more frequent professional cleanings, scaling and root planing ("deep cleaning"), anitmicrobial treatments, and gum surgery.

Children
Children can be seen by a dentist as early as their first birthday. We recommend all kids be examined by their third birthday. During these early visits, the child will be monitored for proper eruption of their baby teeth. As the child gets more familiar and comfortable with the dental setting, cleanings, topical fluoride treatment and x-rays will be introduced. Education for both the parent and child will be emphasized during all visits.

Emergency Care
We offer emergency care during and after office hours for our patients of record. A doctor will always be on call to handle or direct dental emergencies.

Sterilization
Sterilization procedures and infection control are top priorities at Maple Grove Family Dental. The staff is highly trained through continuing education to meet all current recommendations by the American Dental Association, OSHA, and the CDC. All instruments are high heat autoclaved after each use. All water lines used in treatment rooms are disinfected with a solution called Sterilex. Sterilex is the only cleaning solution to recieve the ADA Seal of Acceptance for use in dental unit water lines. Distilled water is also used for all procedures.
